I love this recognition of the in-between, liminal space of chaos being as the fertile ground from which new form takes place. A necessity for transformation.
I like to think of it as the experience of having one foot in the 'old ways' (generally our ways of surviving and protecting ourselves in the world), and one foot being called into the 'new ways' - the life our heart/soul/system knows is possible and yearns for.
It's in this in-between chaos we meet all of our threshold guardians (the ways we defend the old ways)- which is an opportunity to integrate parts of us, and relate to ourselves, other and the world is a new way. Perhaps a new, more compassionate, authentic way.
The cycles are like a spiral inward, allowing us to connect even more outwardly
I have POTS and am still trying to be a writer despite it, so every word of your piece, Mylo, resonated very strongly with me, and the ‘Brain Fog’ diagram is like a transcript of my own internal dialogue. It’s taken me so long to get round to replying because I’m pacing myself to only 15 minutes at a time on the screen! You’ll know how frustrating that kind of thing is. I hope you’ll be able write more, and thank you so much for sharing this. Knowing there are others going through the same thing really helps.
So glad to be in good company with my writing. Thanks for your comment and yes I know how frustrating pacing yourself is! Wishing you increased capacity and reduced symptom flares to keep doing the writing you love 💛
I’m very conscious of the chaos I’m in the middle of at the moment. I’m doing a job that makes me nervous. I’m hoping that this creative period will led me somewhere. I could quit my job leave but then I’m not allowing for the creative process. It’s such a difficult situation.
Hey ladybug I’m glad my piece resonated with you! I’m newly on substack and still figuring things out. Nothing published on my own page so far but I do hope to write more (on sick time of course!) In the meantime I hope to keep writing for the Spiral Lab Magzine :)
Wow! These were all wonderful to read and see and take in. I’m looking forward to more. Marta, a special thank you for saying that rabbit holes can be a grounding practice. I’ve never considered my calming “evening Wikipedia adventures” a special interest, but a rabbit hole? Yes. And totally necessary.
hi Marta, speaking about zine, I just finished a zine translating some of your texts in French. You can download it here : https://ko-fi.com/s/4a94935266
thanks for* this collection. nada's piece "weather whiplash" resonated with me especially!

This is phenomenal! To think that it all started in a muddy rabbit hole. I love what y’all are doing here!
